Sharps Disposal

  Sharps disposal(medical waste)

The handling and disposal of needles and sharps is fast becoming a major problem in Australia. All needles and sharps found in public places must be handled with extreme care, injury can result in infection. The following steps are a must:

1.       use heavy duty gloves and a pair of tongs

2.       gloves and tongs must be rinsed after use

3.       syringes should be disposed of in an approved "Sharps" container (available at the Council Offices)

All Sharps/Needles can be brought to the Council Offices for disposal, but MUST be in a hard, sealed container. This service is provided free of charge.
